In a busy week for the Ripple team, the latest announcement comes from their newly launched developer platform – Xpring. The open-source platform enables third party developers to use XRP to build new products. Ripple have described the platform as the “open developer platform for money” – outlining the direction in which Xpring is most likely to be used.
By using the XRP Ledger and the Interledger Protocol (ILP) they are looking to develop an ecosystem that will truly bring out the potential of these technologies.
“We are building products that address developer needs and are working to create utility for XRP and drive adoption for ILP.”
The use cases are multiple. Not only is XRP to be used as liquidity on demand, with Xpring the applications are extended into web monetisation, gaming and micropayments, and this is just in the early days.
